Dentures & Partials

What are dentures and partials?

A denture is a removable dental appliance designed to replace missing teeth and surrounding tissue. They are made to closely resemble your natural teeth and may even enhance your smile. Dentures are very durable and an excellent long-term solution to tooth loss.

OPTIONS EXPLAINED

Your smile options

Dentures: Dentures are used when all the teeth are missing and may be either “conventional” or “immediate.” A conventional denture is made after the teeth have been removed and the gum tissue has healed, usually after four-to-six weeks. Immediate dentures are made in advance and immediately placed after the teeth are removed, thus preventing the patient from having to be without teeth during the healing process. Once the tissues shrink and heal, adjustments need to be made to the immediate dentures.

Partials: Partial dentures are used when some natural teeth remain. A partial denture not only fills in spaces created by missing teeth but also prevents other teeth from shifting.

Reasons why dentures might be right for you:

  • Loss of all teeth in an arch (complete denture)
  • Loss of several teeth in an arch (partial denture)
  • To enhance your smile and facial tissues
  • To improve chewing, speech, and digestion
